Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

Our EDI Commitment

Women Work and Wealth Institute is committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion as core principles of economic justice. We recognize that women’s experiences in work, entrepreneurship, income security, and wellbeing are shaped by intersecting social, economic, and systemic factors. Our approach to equity, diversity, and inclusion is intentional, practical, and outcomes focused.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is not a standalone value at Women Work and Wealth Institute. It is embedded across our programs, partnerships, governance, and policy work.

How We Understand Equity

We understand equity as creating fair access to opportunities, resources, and decision making by recognizing and addressing structural barriers. This means designing programs that respond to different starting points, lived realities, and systemic constraints rather than applying one-size-fits-all solutions.

Inclusion by Design

Inclusion at Women Work and Wealth Institute means creating environments where people feel respected, supported, and able to participate fully. We do this by:

  • Offering virtual, in-person, and hybrid programming

  • Integrating accessibility considerations into program design

  • Using plain language and culturally responsive approaches

  • Providing multiple pathways for engagement and feedback

We actively seek to reduce barriers to participation related to cost, access, language, and systems navigation.

Diversity in Practice

We serve and engage women from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and communities, including but not limited to:

  • Black women and women from racialized communities

  • Indigenous women

  • Newcomers and immigrants

  • Francophone women

  • 2SLGBTQ+ individuals

  • Women with disabilities

  • Women navigating career transition, caregiving, or economic precarity

Diversity is reflected not only in participation but also in leadership, facilitation, and decision making.

Systems and Policy Change

Our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion extends beyond individual programming. We work to influence policies, practices, and funding approaches that shape women’s economic outcomes. We center lived experience as a legitimate and necessary form of expertise and use evidence-informed insights to contribute to policy and systems change.

Accountability and Continuous Learning

Equity, diversity, and inclusion is an ongoing practice.

We commit to:

  • Regular reflection and learning

  • Using participant feedback to improve programs

  • Tracking participation and outcomes in aggregate

  • Strengthening partnerships with community organizations

We recognize that meaningful equity work requires humility, adaptation, and long-term commitment.

Our Goal

Our goal is to contribute to an economic ecosystem where all women have access to opportunity, income security, wellbeing, and influence over the systems that shape their working lives.
